Job Summary:

The Primary Layout Engineer will be responsible for electrical projects ranging from LV to 132kV on behalf of the company. It will entail working as part of a team to complete 2D and 3D renders of all layout drawings generated by the company up to and including 132kV. You will also be expected to contribute to the conceptual design of various energy projects, primarily Solar Farms and Battery Energy Storage System facilities. You must follow all safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Elevations and layout of the DNO primary compound
  • Design of DNO Cable Route
  • DNO Cable Easement and Wayleave (Land Ownership Boundary)
  • DNO Access Route
  • DNO substation general configuration
  • DNO busbars and clamps
  • DNO above ground earthing package
  • Primary layout and elevations for the customer (including full customer layout scope)
  • Design of the customer cable route
  • Customer cable easement and wayleave (land ownership boundary)
  • Customer access route
  • General arrangement of the customer substation
  • Above ground earthing package of the customer
  • Customer busbars and clamps
  • Borehole drawing
  • DNO CDM layout design
  • Customer CDM layout with GS6
  • Analysis of Swept Paths

Essential Criteria:

  • 10 years or more of contracting/consulting experience
  • Sound numeracy skills
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Project management experience
  • Previous HV/EHV experience
  • Previous experience working with IDNOs, DNOs, or ICPs
  • Working with BSEN, IEC, IEEE, and CENELEC Standards
  • Solid understanding of engineering design principles
  • Strong numeracy and computer skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Material property knowledge
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods

Desirable Criteria:

  • Additional Electrical Qualifications
  • Google Earth knowledge
  • Power system simulation
  • Master's degree (Power)
  • Capability to develop a design delivery programme.
